If you are interested in the ultimate filtration, look into a bypass filtration system. This uses a special filter in parallel with your regular filter. They've been used on cab and truck fleets for many years. The oil pretty much can last for the lifetime of the engine. I know a guy twho runs one of these and he swears by it. Here's a link to a bypass site:

I answered on another post but I will do it again.
For a long time HD recommended 20W50 in the entire bike. Now they sell "Sport-trans".
I recommend Amsoil AGR-QT, a fully synthetic gear oil in the tranny.

Hmmmm, I have a copy of Amsoil's catalog and even there own catalog states to use 20w50 in a sportster tranny.

Hey Pococj,I also read the AIM article on the oil filter's and when I questioned the service manager at the dealer they said the evo filter's did not require a anti drain back valve,I think that's right or have I got it backward's.Any way one is the opposite of the other.

Looking in my manual, it shows the filter in the return line to the tank. That would indicate to me that an anti-drain back valve shouldn't be needed.
Isn't the Twinkie filter in the supply line?

LV,
I tried to get hold of someone in York, but they are all gone until the New Year. What I did do was call 3 dealerships, and asked to talk to the head mech in each one.
All of them said the same thing, and that was, "if it's motorcycle oil and motrocycle filter, you're good."
Case closed in my book. I'm going fully synthetic at the first opportunity, (I live in a HOT desert), and that's what came from the factory in one of my cars. I will spend a little time reading up on the sites the Pococj gave us and then deside on the filter. I'm thinking the Mobile 1 filter or the filter you got are in the top two of my choices.
This was a really informative thread...

The filter on an Evo is in the return line to the tank. Even if the thing doesn't have an anti drain back valve the any crud in the tank can't flow back through the filter into your engine. There needs to be a sufficient pressure differential to push the oil through the filter, and with the engine shut down all you have is the height of oil in the tank and line, say 12 inches pushing against the filter and the oil in the line on the inlet side of the filter. There isn't enough pressure in that situation to allow the oil to drain from you tank back into the engine. Plus the return line in the tank is generally above or at least near the top of the oil level.
Bottom line on Evo: Drainback valve not necessary.
Twinkie motor: IIRC, the filter is in the supply line, and so needs an anti drainback valve.
