Default 1989 Sportster 883 w/ 1200 kit

I looked through the stickys and still didn't know where this should go. I recently bought a 1989 Sportster 883 with a 1200 kit. Its in Florida and before I try to get it running, I don't know what kind of fluids I should put in it. Octane, oil amount and weight, etc. All help would be appreciated. Feel free to relocate this post if I'm in the wrong area. Thanks!

Do not use synthetic oil in it. I would use a good 20w50 dino MC oil from Autozone or HD360 20w50 in the engine and HD formula + in the trans. Your local Harley dealer will have the required volumes.

Well I did some research and yesterday I ordered some things for the bike. I know you said no synthetic but I didn't read it until just now. I got a good deal on some Mobil 1 V-Twin 20w50 full synthetic, a K&N oil filter, some NGK standard plugs, a set of Accel 8.8mm plug wires / battery cables / starter solenoid. Shipped them to my friend's shop so I will have them when I go to town on the bike. Just curious as to why running the synthetic in this bike is not good?
