Oil Change = Power Loss

Oil Change = Power Loss
Ok well i decided to try the Mobil 1 20w50 v twinn oil in all 3 holes when i did my oil change 2 weeks ago for the 11k service. i went 1k, 6k, now 11k
since the oil change i have put 2500 miles on (ran to flordia and back last week)
i ran syn 3 oil in the motor, regular harley primary oil in the primary, and spectro 6 speed in the tranny. for the 1k and 6k
i feel that the motor is louder in the top end enough so that i will be either going back to syn 3 in the motor or trying the redline...
My question is on the primary i ran regular now mobil 1 i feel that the clutch isnt hooking as hard as it did before.. almost like its slipping and im not getting all the crisp power to the ground..what should i do?

Wrong forum, but I will point this out. Your clutch problems could be attributed to the synthetic in the primary.

Synth isn't good to run in your clutch...causing slippage. I'd swap the primary fluid for Spectro, or Formula+...JMO.

My 106 was broken in on pennzoil conventional 20w-50. I changed the oil a couple of times then put in the oh so famous and great mobil 1 v-twin,and my top end immediately sounded like a can of marbles bouncing around in there.
I couldn't take it and after 1000 miles I drained it and put in royal purple 20w-50 auto oil. Within 5 minutes my valvetrain sounded normal again.
Everytime I use mobil 1 the motor I put it in becomes louder, even my lawn mower.
Mobil 1 had a great ad campaign and sponsor all the right people but as far as I'm concerned the oil itself is just hype.
So op you aren't the only one who has had this particular experience.
Red line will quiet up your top end for sure. That stuff is the best oil on the planet. And if your riding a big twin(not sportster) you don't need to buy the over-priced v-twin stuff. The auto oil is fine.
The v-twin oils are formulated without any friction modifiers so in shared sump bikes it won't kill the clutch. Harleys don't have that problem. And friction modifiers are a big reason why today's engines are running consistently over 200000 miles.
The v-twin oils are necessary for jap bikes, not ours.

sorry i didnt pay attention to which shortcut tab i hit...naturally i have the touring parts section and the touring model section on quick access....lol
i agree its the synthetic in the primary thats probally causing the slip feeling...id always run formula plus prior too..my question is how should i proceed to rectify the problem?

In the primary I have had sync3, amsoil 10/40, formula1 & redline primary (MTL). I use Redline MTL and Formula1 as an alternate.
I was due for an engine oil change and decided to try Mobile 1 20/50 even though I liked (like) the oil I had in there. Well I dumped it before 200 KM because the valve train noise was awful, felt a loss of power. there was bubbles on the dipstick. Perhaps it was not compatible with the residual oil, but I will not be trying it again. Poured in the Redline 20/50 and back to normal.
