Default Oil Lines and TC oil tank

I am at point in build where I am working on oil (lines/tank) I got a 86-99 based rigid big twin frame (evo). With a bit of fab'n I got a '00+ TC horseshoe oil tank installed. However the "L" shaped oil return outlet at bottom of oil tank now runs into my solenoid start button.

So here is what I am thinking, cut and plug the oil return outlet so it doesnt interfere with start button and then use the drain outlet as my return feed. Anyone think of any issues with this?

Also since I am broke was thinking of using standard oil/fuel lines. Looks like I can get emgo 3/8" for around $25 for 25'... is this cool.

Thanks for help, 1st build and learning as I go. -j
