Default 02 with 11k... too late to switch?

I am looking at picking up an 2002 Road King with 11k on the odometer. It has always used HD dino oil according to the owner who purchased it new. I am wondering if it is too late to switch over to synthetic oil? My concern would be the gaskets and seals. Am I better off just sticking with conventional oil?

Thanks!

Your bike is too new to develop leaks from using synthetic, But why would you want to use it anyway? Using synthetic oil won't promise any longer motor life life, just more expensive oil changes.,,

gtrplyr; no problem w/oil swap to synth - can do it anytime & bike won't skip a beat. I say you're good to go...hope you get the new-to-you scoot & post some pics when the deal's done.

My bad... it's a 02 Road King, so basically 10 years old.

You should be fine. Synthetic oil lasts longer and keeps the engine cooler so to the poster above. Yes it costs more, yes it lasts longer therefore I wrench on my bike less often which means more riding time. And if it lasts twice as long for less then twice the cost then wouldn't synthetic be a better value, and actually cost you less in the long run.
