Default HD oil. The wonder cure?

On another post I described my oil loss issue. About an ounce and a half per 100 miles, using Mobil 1 V-Twin. Enough people told me to switch back to Dino oil and I did so, and discoverd that my oil loss, got lost. I thought it was oil carry over but others said because I switched to Syn. at 1000 miles It would probably be because I stoped the bikes break in. For whatever the reason all seems to be well. Very strange indeed. You guys have any thoughts on that? Is Spectro any better then the Chavez HD oil? I hope so.

HD dino is a very good oil, no matter who is making it. Why not just stick with what works and call it a day?

I have always heard not to run synthetic until the motor has been broken in which is usually about 1,000 miles..Have been told that the ring,s need to seat..

Funny how Harley tells you not run syn oil until theres a grand on the motor, but some Harley models are shipped from the factory with syn in them. Does that mean they do the break in at the factory for some models?.,,

Many people experience some oil consumption when switching to syntheitc oil in all types of engines. This consumption usually subsides after 1-2 oil change intervals. I have no explanation as to why but I have seen numerous posts on here and BITOG about it. I switched my bike to Syn3 at 100 miles. That was 5 years ago. No consumption at all.

+1 No break in at the factory. But all of the CVO bikes come with Syn3.

Well with all the modern metallurgy , they dont require "break in" in the true sense of like what it was like 35 years ago breaking a shovel in ..

Not buying it, I've always put 500-600 miles on a motor then went straight to full synthetic. Been doing that since my 98 DWG. Did it to my new RK and the oil level has stayed in the same place the whole time. Hell Corvette's come straight off the assembly line with Mobil 1 in the crancase! There's something else happening here. Hell the motor is well broken in by 600 miles it doesn't take that many miles for everything to settle in.
