Ordered some Spectro Platinum 6-speed tranny oil. It was only Spectro tranny oil DK had and thought it should be fine in my 04 5 speed tranny. I have since read somewhere that the Plat 6-speed is ONLY for the new 6 speed. I have emailed Spectro with this question but was hoping someone would have an answer or experience using this.

 

It's GL-5 gear oil. Dump it in and ride. I run the 75/140 all the time. It's preferred by me.

 

I've run it in my 5 speed for 30000 miles, no problems yet.

 

Thanks guys. I heard back from Rollin Karrol, the VP of Sales at Spectro. he said the Platinum 6-speed was developed for the 6 speed but they have found that it works well in the 4 and 5 speeds as well. So I'm gonna put it in this weekend.

 

I agree...no problem at all....in fact it is BETTER for the transmission.

I tried it in my 6-speed EGC because it was supposed to minimize the 5th gear whine in the new 6-speeds. Didn't reduce the whine any more than the Redline Shockproof Heavy it replaced so I went back to SPH after 2 years. Cheaper and just as effective.

 

Baker recommends it in there tranny's. Just sayin'
