Default Missing oil?

Hi to all. I own a 2005 Heritage Softail Classic and it currently has 4695 miles. i broke it in according to the manual and i had my 1000 mile service done at 989 miles. it was serviced with SYN3. I rode to Rolling Thunder XVIII and back to Drum. I also rode to Staten Island and back. Once in Staten Island i noticed that the oil pressure light started to light up intermittently on stop lights the valve train got noisy (lifters tapping very loud). I traveled 1/4 mile to the nearest motorcycle shop and checked the oil. it was very low and it took 2 quarts and a little more to bring it up to the full level. The bike is currently at the Harley shop for it's 5000 mile service and to see were the oil is going to. So my ? is if im not burning it and it's not coming out of the exhuast and there's no leaks. were did the oil go?

The OIL fairy must have taken it.......Sorry, I just couldn't resist that!

The 05's are having a problem with oil consumption due to the valve seals. HD knows about it and will no doubt take care of it.

I got the call back from HD. they have the primary cover off and there is no oil going into it, i guess thats the good news. the bad news is that they are going to have to tear into the engine further because the plugs are very fouled up (gummy) according to the tech. The other bright side of things is that if they do have all the parts i "should" have it back by the 4th of july weekend.

Well here is the latest on my 05 Heritage. The dealer called HD and in response said that the valve seals is what's causing the excess oil consumption. as i type the bike is being put together "so they say". You were on the money TCSTD. Thanks
