I wouldn't run shock proof in the primary. Some sportster,s have dissolved clutches with the stuff. I like in my trans on the bike, so I tried it in snowmobile chaincase. Which has the same type of chain as the primary. I stopped using it in the sleds as it just didn't protect the chaincase good.

I’ve been using Mobile 1 , 15 - 50 wt in the 5 qt jug for $20 buck from Walmart . For years before this thread was started ten year age . And my bikes run great 12 months out of the year . You just have to learn to let it warm up for 3 or 4 minutes before you ride it .

You guys are both wrong, because I`m using the best oil, and I change brands all the time (depending on which has the best price)...

Everyone else`s opinion is just an opinion, but your opinion is fact...isn`t that special...

I think your opinion is a definite opinion, bud.

Tin men are a like the game of Wack-A-Mole. May mean a little if he had a Signature Line with year, model and all the letters and it had 150,000 test miles on it.

Everyone here should know by now what the best oil is. Geezus.
No one will ever agree on this one.
For me, I'll keep running my VR1 conventional @$5.60/qt and change it every 2500 miles. UOAs couldn't be any clearer.
Y'all keep running that $15/qt magic oil. There's a reason all the noise complaints come from synthetic.
As you were...carry on.
Oh, for the gear box, I prefer spectro 6speed and their conventional chaincase oil in the chaincase.

If you prefer to continue with the HD ball peen hammer gear shift sound, please continue to use brand X. When I changed trans oil to Redline with Shockproof, the banging stopped, no longer has any issues finding neutral even after its well broken in, and shifts are much smoother.
