Which Oil Weight?

Which Oil Weight?
First off, I've seen so many articles, read so many reports, basically due diligence in selecting what I'm replacing my SYN3 oil with and that is AMSOIL. So I don't want this thread to become another "which is better" thread. I'm very impressed with everything I've read and studied on AMSOIL, so much to the point I signed up to be a dealer.
I simply want to know what AMSOIL weights are being used in the engine, tranny, and clutch housing.
I would prefer to hear this from a HD mechanic mainly due to the fact I have a couple of friends that are HD mechanics and both state there is nothing better than SYN3 and they've seen bikes running AMSOIL and other oils skating lifters (whatever the hell that means), voiding warranties etc....

Your friends aren't very knowledgeable about oils stating that there's nothing better than Syn 3 and also about the skating too.
They are obviously trying to communicate the "bearing skate" of years ago that HD was trying to push when they didn't advocate synthetic oil in their motors. (But now that they sell a poor excuse for synthetic oil, it's OK to use LOL)
Also choice of oils CANNOT void a warranty. Refer to the magnussen moss act.
You may want to take a look at the MSDS here about Syn 3.

wealth of information Peppi, thank you.
here in South East Texas, looking to find out what weights folks are using in the 3 holes. I've used Syn3 for the past 5 years but $12 (and climbing) per quart is a little ridiculous even if it has the HD logo on it.

That $12 a quart for the Syn3 is just ridiculous especially when you can get a quality oil like Mobil 1 V Twin for under $9 a quart and that is a full synthetic.
I like the M1 VT in the engine, Spectro platinum in the trans (6 speeds) and the primary can use mostly any 10/40-10/30 or 20/50 oil that is not energy conserving or synthetic which will give you good shifting and easy finding neutral too.

I don't get how shops price their oil. By me the indy shop has Amsoil 20/50 for for $11.50 a qt. Ya still have to pay 7% tax on that. But hold onto your hat, Mobil 1 v-twin they sell for $16.99 a qt plus tax. Even their regular oils are about what you'd pay at the dealer for their regular oil. But you can go to auto zone and get the mobil vtwin for $9.50 a qt and Valvoline 20/50 bike oil is $4.29 a qt. Use what you want but shop around.,,
