Mobil I 75W90 synthethic or dino
Does it really matter if I am using dino or synthetic in the transmission as long as it is gear oil?

Depending on who responds to this topic, you will likely get varying responses. My response is absolutely NO. A 75W90 is a very good gear oil weight for your transmission. Dino versus Mobil 1 synthetic; which is better? I don't believe there is any significant difference, but this is where the debate will begin. I run Lucas 75w90 synthetic, but please don't tell anyone.

I've run both and to tell the truth, I can't see or feel any difference. I just reloaded with coastal 75/90 wt and the trans runs quiet and shifts smooth as butter. You can pay more, but will you really be getting any more?.,,

Spectro 75W/140 synth 6-speed GO makes my tranny run/shift smoother & reduced low gear whine. Your $$$/your bike, your choice....

You can get Rotella 85w140 at some Walmarts for $4. But if you want to go 110% "***** to the wall" (industry term) for the thickest heaviest gear oil out there then you need REDLINE SHOCKPROOF HEAVY 75W250 GROUPV SYNTHETIC GEAR OIL. :icon_bowrofl

Hey....Hernando...greetings from McComb.
Yep...Redline Shockproof. They make a version they call V-Twin. I don't know if it's the heavy or light, but it sure works for me. Anything that looks and sticks to stuff like bubble-gum has to be good!
