I would rather have 100 cans of autozone brake cleaner..($225.00)..... Since one can can clean up 5 oil change messes then I am good for 500 oil changes (500 x 5000 miles = 2,500,000 miles) But then again I'll be trading my bike in at 1.2 million miles so I'll still have 50 cans of brake cleaner left for my next bike. Which means I can go to bike nite 312,500 times before I have an unsightly oily mess on my engine.

I have it down to no mess by just placing a Wal-mart or Harley plastic bag over the filter and the filter mount and unscrew the filter holding it in the bag the whole time. The Harley one works better because it is a thicker bag.

I use a large freezer bag. Wrap it around the filter and mount and unscrew the filter. All the oil is trapped in the bag.

At first I was going to suggest this, and order one for myself. However, it's for Dynas and touring models. I don't get it...it looks like it would fit my FLSTF.

I installed Jerrys system. First thing I did was throw away the chrome plated fittings and used stainless steel. Installed a chrome filter from a Dyna, doubled the capacity as far as the filter is concerned and looks outstanding. Love the system, have had many compliments on it. No mess at all when changing filter.

Zip-loc type bag around the filter and a disposable tin baking sheet with the pan on top.

my method exactly. I do loosen the filter prior to punching "1" hole. Works great !! Tried bottles, bags and rags before discovering this method is the best...for me!!

I just pull the filter off slowly and let the oil go where it may. Then I shoot the area with PJ1 degreaser. Much easier than building some contraption. Besides, my voltage regulator needs a good lubing once in a while. It helps the electrons flow.
