oil interval

It's very simple;
3 quarts of Mobil 1 15W50 at $4.50 a quart = $13.50
1 HD oil filter = $8.50
Labor cost = $0.00 (I do it myself)
$13.50 for synthetic oil plus $8.50 for oil filter = $22.00

Oil change intervals seem to vary a lot depending on the individual bike owner.
I change oil at 2,500 to 3,000 mile intervals, doesn't matter to me if I'm running Mobil 1 15W50 (synthetic), RedLine 20W50HD (synthetic), or something like Castrol GTX 20W50 (conventional).
Some people feel that you should change conventional oils at no more than 1,500 miles, while synthetic fluids can be used for 7,500+ miles.
If you check your official 'Owners Manual' you will probably find that Harley themselves recommends 5,000 mile oil and filter changes, and that is when using the recommended HD360 conventional oil.
I'm comfortable changing oil at 3,000 mile or less intervals, no matter what I might be using...

There are going to be lots of opinions on how often oil should be changed.
Just because you may be using full synthetic, doesn't mean you should get more miles out of an oil change.
I change the oil in my '09 U.C. every 2000 miles in the extreme heat of the summer. The rest of the riding season, I change it every 2500 to 3000 miles.
