Default Need primeing help

I just picked up my freashly re-built early evo. (87') Any tips on how to prime my oil pump, I Know its gravity fed but if there is any air in the pump it will not pull from my oil tank through the filter. Do i fill my oil filter then let it drain out the inlet to the pump?

Also were can i find a schematic for my oil lines, it does not show in my hayes manual.

take the plug out of the center of the pump, turn motor over with starter in no more than 10 second blasts, once youve got oil coming out, replace plug and turn motor over until pressure is on gage or light goes out, crank motor about 5 more times and your ready to go(make sure you have about 1/4 qt oil in the lower end & 5-6 oz. in the cam chest before doing anything, you can put it in thru your timing plug and lifrter blocks)

The factory manual for my 96 has some pretty good illustrations of the EVO oiling system. I highly recommend you beg, borrow or steal one.

The supply side of the pump pumps oil from the tank to the engine first. The scavenger side picks up the used oil and pumps it to the filter. So you need to have enough oil flowing through or already in the engine to see it going to the filter.

Look on ebay for used manuals. I just bought 2 for $19 each.

Yep....the EVO filters the oil AFTER it leaves the engine. Do what the boys above said.

Most EVO manuals have a very good oil circuit diagram and you can see where it goes, when and how. They seem to want to hide the oil circuits on the TC family....I am yet to find a good complete TC oil circuit diagram.
