Homebuilt Oil Cooler - hookup?
I'm thinking of building an oil cooler myself...but lack the adapter for the usual connection to the oil filter. I'd like to make this an economical install just to use for summer, so I wouldn't be necessarily needing a thermostat.
Is one of the plugged drillways on the oil filter mount pressurized from the filter?
I'm thinking of putting an elbow fitting there and running the oil under to the crankcase plug and letting the pump scavenge it back to the tank. By using 1/4" drillways in my cooler, the flow would not be so much as to flood the crankcase. This would also slow the flow and allow it to actually cool.
Is this possible? Or is there another way to do it without breaking the bank? I won't run lines over the engine or anything ugly like that.
