Default Do I need to change oil?

I Changed my fluids about this time last year. I use synthetics. I only put about 1,000 miles on last year. Do I need to change it or use it for another 4,000 miles?

If your bike was stored in a dry, warm area where the temperature was steady. No
If the temperature varied and if you seen any condensation on your bike, Yes. Oil is cheap insurance.

That tad bit of condensation would burn right off the first time you got it hot.

This is what I think as well, but in your case with only 1k over the whole year, I'd dump some fresh oil into it. Oil change intervals are both time and milage. Time has given the oil a chance to form acids. Brutal if stored in fluctating temps.

I would change it as well. After mine sits for five months of Winter, I change it as soon as I'm ready to ride, regardless of how many miles are on it. I also truely don't get Harley's reccomendation of only changing oil every 5K. In an auto you're supposed to change it every 3K, and those are liquid cooled engines, but yet Harley says every 5K and it's an air cooled engine? I change mine every 3K regardless. And if you'd put more miles on your machine you'd get more of your money's worth out of that oil!!!

You should change the engine oil & filter. Trans and primary go by mileage as there are no combustion by products or fuel dilution.

So do you plan to only ride 1k per year? 5 years is a long time on any oil.,,

I'd be tempted to leave the filter and just change the oil.

That is some pretty low mileage.
