Having recently brought my sportster back from abroad with me, I had to drain it of all oil and gasoline to air freight it home. I filled it with the correct anount of oil (2.8Ltrs) and gas' not changing the filter as it was done only 200 miles ago. When i fired it up, the oil came spewing out of the oil tank, what have i missed? Thanks in advance guys, great site. Regards, Chris

 

My only guess is that the reduced pressure in the plane may have caused a hose to pop off or maybe even a weld to crack.

 

Sounds to me like you drained only the primary, and added oil to the engine that was already full.
