Default Oil Spill on My Floor...

I have spilled oil on my concrete garage floor. I am in a new house and every time I see this it bugs the S&*^ out of me.

WTF, How can I get this stuff off a concrete floor?

pine sol soaked under newspaper works well. let it soak for a few hours and scrub with an old broom and hose off.

Go to the hardware store and buy a gallon of muratic acid. Mix the amount to be used 50/50 with water. Wet the floor. Apply liberally, do not breathe vapors or get on skin, eyes, clothing etc. Let sit for 3 minutes then scrub. Rinse completely with cold water. Let dry. If the oil is still there mix 2/3 acid to 1/3 water and repeat. Be careful as this stuff will etch the surface off the concrete if you leave it sit too long. It should turn the oil green as it bubbles it off the floor.

However as with all acid.....keep away from children and dispose of any unused portion.

It's a garage, not the oriental rug in your dining room. Dump a little more oil on it and stomp a few cigar butts out on it. Go for a ride. Hell, at today's oil prices, I could probably retire if I could figure out how to extract oil from my garage floor. Hell, there's even a little on some of the oriental rugs. I blame the grandkids for that.

KBFXDLI,

Your post about muratic acid reminds me of an incident when my oldest daughter was about 8 years old. I had a pan of the stuff on the garage floor and my daughter came running through the garage and stomped in it. I didn't realize the wife had dressed her all up including panty hose. The acid splashed all over her legs. I looked at the melted panty hose and thought it was her skin. Scared the hell out of me, but a quick rinse in the shower and all was well.

Spray Nine 518-762-4591 its the best thing going for taking oil off from spills, on concrete
just wipe it up or? and Spray it off with water....and its a done deal...trust me folks!...I use it and have no interest in the company.

Ride Safe!

If you spill acid or want to get rid of it, baking soda will neutralize it quickly. Hope your daughter was OK.
