+1 - Avoid the Teflon tape, go with the paste.

+1 Don't ever be tempted to use teflon tape on fuel lines or on the oil system.

I've been changing oil in motorcycles for close to 40 years, and I've never used either one, or had any problems by not using either one.

one thing not metionted is to replace the ruber ring on the oil plug or you guessed it oil leak and as for front engine filters buy a cheap plastic funnel from any where and cut strigh up the side and slide it under the filter flat it works great

I saw a step by step on removing the oil filter and not a drop of oil will get out. Take a old milk jug and cut the top portion off. ( like using it as when we were kids at the beach shoveling sand) then you can use it as a catch bason while placing it undernieth the oil filter.

Thumbs down Change

Please do not let this crap on this site and imply it is info to rely on.

The purpose of running the motor prior to draining the oil isn't to give the oil a warm and comfy feeling. The BIKE (not just the motor) should be run, THAT MEANS RIDDEN, long enough for all the fluids to come up to full operating temperature. The idea is to ensure that particulate matter is suspended in the oil, NOT settled out in the bottom of the case or tank, so that when the fluid is drained, the contaminates come out with the fluid.
I agree and also here is a look at what might have happened on my 07 Ultra when tape was used on the plug along with an o-ring by the dealer. As one might guess I now do all the maintenance.
