I am coming up to my first oil change on my 09' fatboy and 5000 mile mark on the wifes 08' fatboy and I am going to switch to all amsoil in all three holes. So my question is I have heard you can go twice the oil change intervals as harley oil so how long do you guys go 3000 miles or more. Thanks for any imput.

 

I go between 5 to 7k between oil changes in the engine. Primary and tranny every second oil change 10 to 15k.

 

I know its overkill but I change all fluids(except brake) around 3k...

 

With Amsoil;

Engine: 5000
Primary: 5000
Trans: 15-20,000 (if you use the Amsoil 75w110 or 75w140 gear oil)

 

I go 5,000 miles and get a UOA and oil still has plenty of life left. If you wanted to go further it can but I would not without a UOA.

 

5,000 Miles all three not that big a hassle to change fluids.. Amsoil 20W50 Engine and Primary, 75W110 in the Tranny although considering Spectro GL-5 for 6 Speeds next change...

5000 on the motor and primary 10000 on the tranny-ride safe

 

Twice the interval is what you can do. Do many do it..probably not. Too much fun changing the oil at least twice a season
Most OEM intervals now say 5000 so you could run it to 10K if you so desired. If the goal is to run those extended intervals, then for piece of mind and to be sure everything is performing well, I'd do an OA at 5-6k and see how it's doing. Then you'll feel better about the intervals you are running.
