Default Damn sticky stuff that synth oil

Changing the oil in the wife's bike yesterday. Taking the filter off I fumbled the damn thing and it went flipping across the floor off the mat and onto the concrete landing perfectly oily side down dumping out all the oil onto the concrete under the matt. Nice mess.

Trying to clean that up though, holy crap, that is some sticky gooey stuff. Ended up using gas squirter to soak into it to get it off.

Tried oil and grease remover and several other products first no luck.

Anyone have a better idea other than a bigger mat. Even stuck to that.

If your trying to remove the oil from the floor, just use some laundry detergent, water and a broom, brush, whatever.

http://www.greased-lightning.com/ is a great product to do what it's intended to. when i bought this house had a spot of oil 4 foot round in the garage from the previous owner and it with many rags and some elbow grease did the trick in removing it.

Tried three different kinds of detergent and dish soap, as well tried the car wash. BBQ grease remover. Industrial grease remover. Used a stiff broom and deck mop. Did not remove it and it all stuck to the broom and mop. This after I soaked most of it up with cat litter.

But thanks...

I ended up scrubbing in the gas with the stiff broom and then used the car wash to clean it up.

Thanks will try that.

Never spilt more than a few drops on the floor before. Oil yes but this synth, is incredibly sticky.

+100 to greased lightning or plain old gasoline in a pinch as you did.

I use simple green. Blot the spot with a paper towel and get as much oil as possible. Then spray simple green on and let it sit 15-20 minutes and agitate with a brush. Rinse thoroughly & repeat if necessary. It will get the oil out.

If the concrete floor is not sealed, the oil will soak into it and leave stains.
Are you trying to remove the stains?
The concrete in my garage seams to be sealed or at least it has a polished/smooth look.I have spilled a lot of oil on it over the last 10 yrs.
First I just wipe it up with an old rag. Then I spray some parts cleaner on then wipe again. This always removes the oil but will stain the floor a little but not as bad as the driveway outside where the concrete is rougher.I use the laundry detergent/water for outside.

And you think the syn. oil is sticky?Try cleaning up gear lube!
