Viscosity Chart - Motor Oil vs. Gear Lube
#12
That gear lube study caught my attention. Particularly this line:
"Using gear lube
that is too thick, however, has disadvantages. Thicker oils are more difficult to circulate, particularly in cold temperatures,
and wear protection can be sacrificed".that is too thick, however, has disadvantages. Thicker oils are more difficult to circulate, particularly in cold temperatures,
I switched to 75-140 some time ago and it has improved my tranny performance but now I'm wondering if it being heavier than the 20-50 recommended is increasing the tranny wear.
Any thoughts?

Just went with Belray 80-140 gear lube in tranny and like it a lot better than the Syn3, then Fromula+. all three were suggested by dealer.
now have syn3 in motor. formula+ primary, belray in tranny...
