Default Buying Amsoil

I want to buy some Amsoil products. Amsoil's website will give me links to some local dealers. I also see a link from HDForum for Amsoil and I know some of the members here are dealers. What is the best way to buy this stuff? If it is shipped, I don't know why I would be better off with a local dealer. What do I need to know about buying?

You can become a preferred customer for $10 for 6 months. That's what I did and I bought 2 years worth of oil for my bike and all my other stuff.

Pay the $20 to AMSOIL to become a preferred customer. If you buy $100 worth a year it pays for itself. I buy all my oil from their site for all my vehicles and I save a lot more that $20 per year by getting the preferred customer pricing.

If you pay the $20 to AmsOil, what price do you pay per qt? I'd like to know to compare with Mobil One, which is what I'm using.

Get together with 2 or 3 people and get a dealer license or preferred customer and buy in bulk. Oil has a shelf life of 60 months if sealed and kept indoors. I buy huge quantities of oil for all my vehicles & boat when there are closeouts. It is the only way to go. Amsoil ships from their closest warehouse so it doesn't matter where you are.

That still doesn't tell me how much you're paying per qt.
Ya know, that's the problem with AmsOil. I'm not "jumping thru hoops" to get their "best price" when I can go a few blocks down the street and get Mobile 1 V-Twin, which to me is JUST AS GOOD AS AmsOil, for $9.60 a qt.
I hate the way it's marketed. If it's soooooo good .....sell it at a retail store and quit the "pyramid sales" crap. Til then, I'm not buying.

A good synthetic is a good synthetic, be it Mobil 1, Amsoil, RedLine, or any number of others out there...

I agree with KBFXDLI, being that if you look around you can find some good 'closeouts' and 'sales' on quality synthetic oil...

In the past I've used both Mobil 1 V-Twin 20W50 and Amsoil, and they seemed to perform the same to me.. Most guys I know run regular Mobil 15W50 (at about $4.20 a quart), with many of them having high mileage bikes that are used here in the lower midwest where temperatures can be extreme.

I just recently started using RedLine 20W60HD (which is a group 5 synthetic). It's probably overkill for a low RPM Harley engine, but I was able to find it on sale for $8.00 a quart... I kind of like the idea of the top end "60 weight rating", as Harley themselves recommend using 60 weight fluid if the temperature is 80 degrees or higher. Around here during the summer 90 to 100+ degree temperatures are common.
