That's why many go to a synthetic ATF. I think Mobil 1 is still about an 8w (cst) even at 212 degrees.
Mobil 1 ATF is 7.4 cSt at 100C. Of course, as with any oil, it's going to be thicker than that at cooler temps, and thinner at hotter temps. Its viscosity at 40C is 36.3 cSt. These numbers are roughly comparable to any ATF, whether it's a synthetic or not. Example: Mobil's Type F (non-synthetic) is 7.2 cSt at 100C and 36.0 cSt at 40C.
My point is viscosity is not the reason to choose a synthetic ATF over non-synthetic. Oxidation stability and shear stability are where a synthetic fluid shines.
