Oil Cooler Install steps for 2008 Ultra
Today I installed the HD oil cooler for my 2008 Ultra The only required tools were 7/8" socket with a 10" extention and a 7/16" Allen Wrench, and a 7/16" and 3/8" and 5/16" socket. easy do it yourself project and saved $$. This is my short instruction sheet.
1-Remove oil filter (Reuse or replace) your choice.
2-use 7/8" socket with extention to remove the oil filter threaded nipple from bike.
3-put the gasket on the new adapter, place adapter in position on bike, thread new threaded nipple into center of adapter and tighten down assembly with the 7/16" Allen Wrench.
4-use a 7/16" socket to remove the voltage regulator from its 2 mounting studs. (let it hang by the wires)
5-The Oil cooler mounting plate has 3 holes- The oil cooler has 3 studs-The chrome cover has 3 holes,,,The Plate then the chrome cover then the cooler..one assembly held together with 3 3/8" nilon lock nuts.
6- The plate has 2 more holes for mounting to the voltage regulator smounting studs, place it into position and replace the voltage regulater over top of the plate, re-install the 2 7/16" nuts to secure the voltage regulater and cooler plate into position.
7- Route the hoses from the adapter to the cooler and tighten down the hose clamps using a 5/16" socket... replace the oil filter and your set...Well how was that? I was quoted $135 for the dealer to do it. The cooler is themostat controled to open at 185*F so check your oil level after a ride, I'm guessing maybe 10 ounces is the cooler capacity...Hope this helps.

No, The oil filter holds enough oil to make a mess when you remove it, maybe a total of a cup was lost. My bike was serviced 150 miles before the cooler install and was as clear as a bottle of jack. so I reused the filter when I was done, if I was to have 500 miles on the oil I would have replaced the filter, but thats just me...

Thanks for the reply.
I installed the Jagg 10 row + adapter w/o thermostat yesterday on the Ultra. I ended up with a good however longer install.
I had a little setback when I tried to install a new Russell Pro-System (Drag Specialtiies) oil cooler hose kit, one of the Pro-Sys compression fittings broke on assembly.
I ended up just using the supplied rubber hose & black gear clamps instead. I quickly lost confidence with the Russell aluminum fittings.
Also, I was a little disappointed with the button head screws that came with the Jagg anti-rotation kit. They really should have supplied matching socket cap screws as came with the adapter. The button head screws use a 1/8" allen wrench where as the cap screws use a 5/32"
