Default Lucas Gear Oil

Hey Winberry,
I've been using Lucas 85/140 Gear Oil in my 06 Low Rider gear box for awhile now. I've noticed a big improvement since using it; less gear box noise! I've noticed no detrimental effects from using it.

Although most of us run a bit heavier trans oil it seems to be equivilent to any other e.p. rated oil in it's class.

Personally I wouldn't use anything Lucas sells. It's all sizzle and no steak. If you study any oil analysis papers, Lucas is always next to last on the list. Use Amsoil 75w 90 if you want the best. Red Line is also good and so is the Harley Formula Plus.

I have used Lucas gear oil and have had no problems. Try Mobil 1 too.
