Not impressed with syn oil
I am not at all impressed with synthetic oil, Ive tried amsoil,M1, and spectro platinum and the all seem to make the valve train louder, its like the engine allready has 100k on it and i anly got 20k, went back to HD360 and every thing has quieted back down now. any of you dino oil guys now if there is a better dino then the HD360? Just wandering.

Are you trying to start a fight or something? You're gonna get all the crazy synthetic guys over here going after the insane dyno guys...
Good luck with the oil, man.
I'm running HD Dyno in one bike, and Amsoil in the other. I dynoed one of my bikes with HD dyno oil and then again with Amsoil. No difference in power or tq. I didn't notice a sound difference either (07 Sportster).
I'll bet they both have advantages and disadvantages, but both seem to lubricate the engines fine, which is all I care about.

HD360 is very good...Castrol GTX 20-50 is very good..Havoline 20-50 is very good..the Texas heat is very hot as you know..change @ 2500 miles..I'de run Royal Purple in the summer and listen to the valve clatter but your motor should last a long time with any of the others.

My bike runs cooler with the syn. I also think because you get more engine wear when starting than running that the coating syn. leaves on parts saves engine wear. But folks rode bikes many miles before syn. came along.... I am personally against running the 20/50W syn in all three holes, but that is what the local Harley dealer does. I think the heavier 75/90W gear oil in the transmission and chaincase is the way to go. Others on the forum swear to the SYN 3 or 20/50W in all three.

Syn oil ain't "thinner"; the viscosity range for syn and reg'lar oil is the same. Plenty of reports on the noise issue, so it prob'ly is real. Anybody know (not have a guess) on why?
