Lookout Skip [sm=icon_rofl.gif], man they got your # on that chrome, that's a good one. Actually I think the Harley oil is made from hydrocracking process, which is what Pennzoil has been doing for several year's, it's just like you said, or somebody did, it's all a market thing.

Thanks alot Skip. Send me that table format and I'll make it look good in your post.

I'm with you on the car oil Mobile 1 stuff. I've got the Mobile 1 in my engine now, the Gear oil in my tranny, and HD in the primary, next time I will put the Mobile 1 in the primary. I'm not going to bother with the V-Twin stuff...since the only beneifits of using it will be outweighed by frequent changes.

Just out of curiousity, how often does everyone change their oil?

Scheduled intervals for me. I think the quality of the oils has advanced enough that more is not neccesarily better. With my dusty environment, I might go a little sooner...but for now, I wll go scheduled.

Nice thread, Anybody got any idea how Synthetic Amsoil 20w50 vtwin oil would stand up against Mobile 1. Just Switched to Amsoil in all the holes in my 05 Sporty but havent rode the bike enough yet to really Feel / Notice the difference although the shifting seems a little smoother.

Amsoil is reformulating at least some of their oils. S'posed to be out in April. Prices are going up, too. I'm hoping someone will send some in for an analysis. Amsoil does have some wear test results on their site, but I've read both pro & con on the applicability of the test to the real world.

I'm getting close to my 1000 service and was waiting for this post to come out. Been reading alot lately about synthetic oils and the differences between them. I was just wondering if anyone ever took their bike in for service and supplied the oil for the dealer to replace. Would they have to use it? or do they have to use only HD oil?

Pretty much up to the individual dealer.
