Default Where else can oil end up?

First off, let me say this. I messed up by not checking my oil in the last two fill-ups of gas, and also did not check it when I picked up the bike from the Stealer... And no, I am not going back to this dealer ever again. Now, here we go....

I was washing my bike, and decided to go over other things, and check fluid level, air pressure, blah blah blah... So, I yank out the dipstick, and check the oil, and cold, it reads a quart low. So, I fire up the rig, take a relaxed ride around for about 15 minutes, come back to the house, oil level still looking like a quart low. So I add almost a quart, take it for another more spirited, longer ride, come back, and all is well. Check it this morning, still looking good. But I am paranoid. Is there anyplace else I should look for oil? The oil that is in the bike looked clean and clear, and no fuel smell, so I am thinking that the dinks at the dealer did not give me enough oil. This would not surprise me as they did not fill the air shocks, insisted that 25 degree injectors would not solve my problem with heat, but they did... But I am still paranoid. Is there anything else I should be looking for? Spark plugs are clean, no visible oil leakage, exhaust pipes are dry.. Just want to make sure I do not have an oil problem of any kind. It gets hot here in the summer time, and if you have oil issues, you blow up the bike... And I am not into doing that.

Any thoughts welcomed. And yes, I am checking the oil regularly from now on, and considering the neato torpedo LCD oil temp and level guage from HD as a piece of bling to be added to my rig.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Cheers,
GOSTAZ

If you can't see where it's coming out, it must be still in there. Just keep checking the level and you will be OK. Don't sweat it and enjot the ride![8D]

Three places the oil can go, the crankcase, out the air filter and on the driveway. Chances are, the dealer underfilled the bike at the last service.

Sounds like a plan... I remember years ago I had a Ford escort that lost the valve seals and the air cleaner would fill up with oil. I think I will take a peek tonight when I get home, and then I will sleep better.

Thanks for the input, and if I can get just a little warmer weather, and no rain, I will ride the tires off this thing!

Rule #1 of KB's Law.......check the oil at the dealership BEFORE you leave to make sure its in there on all vehicles. I had a friend take a Cadillac in for one of those $75 "Cadillac" oil changes where the put the 100% "Cadillac" oil in. Well we got to the end of the driveway and the oil light & check engine light come on because the "tech" forgot to re-fill the engine with the 100% "Cadillac" oil. The worst part was that I almost had to be hospitalized from laughing my a$$ off at my buddy cause I told him to just stop at the penzoil lube stop or we could hit autozone and do it ourselves.

So, I just have to always check.......just gotta.
