Default Oil for winter storage

I read a while back where this person said to use the cheapest oil you can buy when storing your bike.He stated that there was no reason to spend a lot of money on oil when the bike was just sitting idol. He said to drain it out in Spring and replace with a good quality oil. My question is , if all the oil is not drained out, do you want the cheap stuff floating around with the good stuff. Ken

I am not sure why he would recommend cheap oil and then drain it. I think it is better to change your oil and use what you would normally use and in the spring ride the bike with the same oil!

you're thinking too much. change the oil in the fall with the oil you normally use. in the spring, start it up and ride. it's not rocket science.

+1 The oil is not in the engine but in the oil tank. Change it before you put the bike up for the winter and then just start it and ride it in the spring.
