Default Low Pressure at Low RPM's

Wife noticed her oil light was coming on during a ride today on her 2003 lowrider.

Took a look and found that the pressure was fine above 2200 RPM's. At idle the light was on also notice that there look to be a half quart too much oil in the bike.

Any feedback is welcome?

Generally your oil pressure will alway be lower at idle and low rpm. If you have a guage you'll also notice a pressure drop the when the engine gets hotter. I would think that if there was too much oil then your pressure would run high than normal though. With all that said, if the oil light is still on I would get it checked. Better safe than sorry.

Too much oil is as bad as too little; the oil can be partly emulsified and the viscosity is going down (just like having a thinner oil).
Removing some of the oil might not be the cure.
I would change the oil ...
Do you live in a hot climate ?
What kind of oil do you use ?

Thanks, that did the trick, Changed the oil/filter, must have been four plus quarts in there, and after about three miniutes at idle the light was out, the engine was humming along great, and we put 100 miles on with no problems.

It does make me wonder about the HD dealer we get service done at. The bike was just in about 2500 miles ago?

Think I will be doing my own service from now on
