Doing 4K oil changes now
I changed to synthetic in my Deuce at 3K. In my previous bike I changed oil every 3K using dino. The manual recommends every 5K, so I figured with synthetic I would go 5K, 3K would be overkill. I just hit 4K & I decided I was'nt going to wait. On draining the oil, it was some kinda dirty, I mean real dirty for 4K. I know if it's dirty looking the oil is doing its job, but I decided I am going to start changing at 4K from on even if it is synthetic. Probably unnecessary, but hey, this will probably be my last bike, got to take care of her.

I too have an 07 Deuce and am using synthetics. I have my oil tested for wear, and use that to determine time between changes. My last change was at 4,600 miles, and the wear levels were very good. This was my second change on this oil, but I'll get one more in before I make the decision on how many miles. One major advantage of UOA is that I found a fuel dilution problem. Would never have know about that with the lab results. If it persists, I'll have to dig in and find out what's causing it. If I can't cure that, I'll have to adjust my oil change interval accordingly. Obviously I'm a big believer in UOA.
