Default Oil Leak

This may b a really dumb question but I am a new harley owner. Yesterday i noticed there was oil on my drive belt cover right behind the oil tank on my sportster. I took the seat off and there is a hose which the oil came from as it is wet. Just want to know if it is some type of oil pressure release or what it is. Did not have time to look into it to far to see where the hose comes from but thought someone here will probably know the answer right away.

Thanks

That would be your oil tank vent hose. Check your oil level with the oil hot (20 minute ride) on the jiffy stand after allowing 4 minutes after shutdown for the oil to return to the tank. If overfull suck some out with a turkey baster. If not, check all the rubber hoses attached to your tank. There are 3 feed, return & vent. Make sure none are bent or kinked.
