And of course the Spamsoil shows up...

There is no reason to use thread sealer. It is not called for in the service manual.

Sperm whale oil. Hard to obtain and expensive but worth it.

And the only way to get it is on the Black Market, but at least there is no sales tax...

Sorry I dont agree. Ive never had such a noisy engine as when I ran synthetic oil. Went to VR1 conventional and the engine quieted down considerably. Haven't run it for two bikes now. Use what you want but lifter bleed down is not my thing.

What service manual?

OK, I`ll clarify...

It`s not called for in my TC (2016) or my M8 (2019) service manuals.

There is no reason to use thread sealer on a plug that has an o ring (over 45 years as an aircraft mech has taught me this).

I dont know what the service manual says but I'd tend to agree. I guess I did hear HD uses teflon tape? Others have used hylomar. More of an anti vibration I think but why?

There are more rumours and speculation about what we Harley owners should or should not do than is healthy. The internet has a lot to answer for and not always worthwhile! If you don't have one then buy and read a genuine FSM and come back with questions. And stay out of the Tech Oil section, if only for the good of your own health....
