Screaming Eagle for the engine, Harley for the rest. Works well for me, a high mileage guy.

so I think its the 75w-90 in the transmission then. The only problem with putting this heavy weight 75w-90 in my transmission is one poster stated that the transmission needs to have thinner oil in the newer bikes so that the oil can get all through the transmission as the thicker 75w-90 does not allow the oil to get through tight spots. However it appears then 75w-90 oil makes my transmission a bit more quieter. But since my bike is partially broken in maybe I should go back to the 20w-50? I have a few quarts of the 75w-90 and want to use that (got it for my truck gears) so I think I will stick with this 75w-90 in my transmission and hope it does not screw it up.

I recently had a dealer tell me the same thing. Service writer "warned" me about Amsoil and a problem with caking/coking due to high temperature or some such nonsense. Said he'd seen a few engines that failed "due to Amsoil". I smell BS, a lot of BS.

That actually happened to my dads 09 ultra a couple months ago. He used amsoil 20w50 religiously every 5,000 miles. His bike doesn't sit very long, its an 09 with 75,000 miles. He used amsoil every time and always used nothing less than premium gas. The tech working on my dads bike took us back where his bike was and showed us the engine after it was torn down and the tops of the pistons were caked. The tech as well as the service writers said they have seen a lot of engine failures due to amsoil. They don't recommend amsoil at all. I've never been a fan of amsoil so I don't use it anyways. Seems like I read somewhere that amsoil is too slippery and doesn't stick to engine parts good enough but I can't remember where. All I know is me and my parents have sworn off amsoil. Yall can flame that if yall want, it won't hurt my feelings

Would oil cause a build up on the top of the pistons, or would that be more fuel related?
