Saw the Castrol for the first time and decided to try it on the last change, everything is quiet, but I add 10 oz of Lucas syn additive to both primary and crankcase.
Tried the Valvoline Syn motorcycle oil the last couple times, it was good as well and much cheaper.

Default Castrol

This is the first time it has been in the crankcase and I have less than 100 miles on the new oil. It isn't any louder than what I was using but the weather is still cool when riding so we will see.
I have been using Castrol for a while in my car, with no problems, but this is a first for the bike.

It wasn't an article as much as it was one of those oil sites (not BITOG, tho) with a whole pile of justification behind the opinion.

I'll keep poking to see if I can find it again...

You may be referring to a Q&A on the Mobil 1 website. They said the 15-50 was fine for the engine but do not recommend it for the primary. However, I've read that many use it for the primary with no issues.

It's pretty much 20W50 until you're no longer dropping below 60*, then you can switch to straight 50 if necessary.
