does a bang up job on my cables and resists dirt, anywhere else i should shoot this stuff, any linkages or such

You want to keep in mind that cables rot from the inside out, usually due to water penetrating between the strands and rusting the cable. Try to find a lubricant that will also penetrate the cables and displace the water as well as lubricating the cable itself.
