Did you take off the vent hose and clean it out? When was the last time you changed the oil? How much did you put in? Have you added any oil because the engine is using oil?

FWIW, I really doubt the rings are bad. You probably have a clogged vent or wet sumping issue.

Change it out and see if that is it. Don'tuse a 5 micron HD filter (get a 10 micron) as those can cause too much restriction in an EVO motor. You might try going to your local NAPA auto parts store and have them get you a Wix Napa gold filter. The part number should be 51348 (napa 5134) or if you want a chrome one 57348 (napa 5734). Try that on there and see if it works. If your dealer has a 10 micron HD filter that would work as well. The wix is a 19 micron rating but will work.It will only cost you a few bucks to try it.

The WIX filter is actually as good as or better than HD's filter.

For an EVO yes. But it is a paper filter and the HD filter is synthetic 5 micron media. Which is better for a twinkie motor.

I have the same problem with my 04 Wide Glide. You just changed the oil filter and that corrected the problem? I'll try it but it doesn't make sense but the whole problem doesn't make sense to me. How does the oil reach by air filter??? Crazy.

Did you do anything else or just change the oil filter?
