I've never noticed, guess I'll pay attention next time I ride. Tim

My Bike sounds the same, but is much smoother with Mobil 1 V-Twin.

Hey Mack,

Can you be a little more specific regarding the Amsoil. I am currently running Syn3 in my 05 Electra Glide Classic and was thinking of switching to t he Amsoil. How exactly does Amsoil outperform Syn3 and Mobil 1.

Well, you will have to go to the Amsoil website to see for yourself, but Amsoil tests their oil against their best competition, and Amsoil always outperforms. Amsoil beats the others in the "Standard" tests and in the tests that Amsoil feels are more "Real world". Remember though, even cod liver oil will protect your engine if you keep it changed....

I just had my 1000 mile service yesterday. Changed out the fluids to Mobile-1 synthetic at 200 miles. I had dealer put in their dino oils for the 1000 mile service since I figure I'd use the conventional as a final break-in engine and tranny flush for the 40 mile ride home until I could change back to Mobile one synthetic. Make sure the oil is real clean of particles. First thing I noticed running the conventional oil again after several hundred miles was more greater heat and a different mechanical tone from the engine.

I found the same thing when I went to the Mobil 1 that the engine seemed smoother and also quieter too.

But why would youy want to go back to dino from synthetic oil?

The breakin with the engine is pretty much accomplished by 50 miles and at 1000 miles there is little benefit if any going to dino oils again. The synthetic will stand up to more heat before breaking down and loosing the qualities that you need to protect the engine.

TC, reread the post. I was not going to pay a bunch of extra money for "Syn 3" when I have plenty of Mobile one at home. The use of the Dino oils during the 1000 mile service was just used as a final engine flush to eliminate any remaining break in materials from the engine. The cheap dino oil was just a 'carrier' for that purpose. Changed back to Synthetic as soon as I got home. I'm a stickler for this stuff and take no chances.

I have read what every one is saying about oils. Well i have a 2005 heritage classic with 12500 miles on it. Ride every day and HAD syn3 in all three places. Well after reading what you guys are saying i changed to Mobil1 v-twin 20W50. Now i ride every day to and from work . It is now running better.. Not to say the SYN3 was bad but i talked with the guys at the stealers that work on the bikes and most of them are running Mobil1 also. NOw why would they do that if it was not better. Think about that....okay like it was said a while ago even peanut oil would work if it was changed. But after reading and all i thank you guys for letting some of us new members know what is out there for us to make our minds up. I know i run cooler now and being in houston it should help me in the summer time.. Thanks again...

P/S i do not use v-twin in the transmission. There is use 75w90 gear from Mobil.. Just one ? harley says to change oil every 5000 miles .. I do it more like every 2500 miles.... What about you guys? How long inbetween oil changes.

Well, I have both syn3 and dyno on the shelf. Stood there and listened. Didn't hear nothing.

You guys must have some good stuff.
