Default Mobil1 Gear 70-140

Hi All,

The last few time I went down to my local auto part stores looking for Mobil1 gear 70-90, they don't have it in stock, all they have is Mobil1 70-140.

Is it okay to use 70-140 in our transmission? I change my syn3 out a few weeks ago to mobil1 70-90, I still have enough 70-90 for one more change.

Thank you in advance.

I don't see any problems with the oil you mention, however you would shift a bit easier with the 75/90 (not 70/90 BTW) . Redline shockproof heavy pours like 40 weight motor oil, but its protection factor rates as a 75W250 and it's ecommended for street-driven Harley Davidson gearboxes also. That's what I use In mine and as long as you don't use engine oil like the syn 3, you should be OK. The gear oils use a different rating system than the engine oils.

Thanks!

I might go with redline next time.

I think my local harley store carry redline gear oil, and I think it is around $10 or so for 32oz, just a little more than mobil1.
