I stick with the 'ol H-D P/N 63796-77A oil filter....I can get a pair at the dealer for $15 during the monthly sale and I get to "shoot the $hit" with the parts folks....I always find out where the local bands are playing and who's throwing the next "backyard" bike bash when droppin' in!

Never actually put this much thought into the oil filter. I always just used the HD because I got it with my oil at the stealer. I'm due for an oil change with my oil lines I'll be changing tomorrow, so I'll be looking to see what is the best for my 84 Evo.

Bought a black oil filter from harley today List $6.95 with 20% discount for december just $5 bucks. That was for my 84 Evo, and the chrome one was only $9.25. That was at Nashua HD for anyone in my area. I read on here that some guys were paying $14 bucks for a filter. I assume that is a different size but still, for $5 I'll use the HD filter. Bought black cause everyone says it dissipates heat better, looks funny after having a chrome one for 4 years but oh well.

I use the black fram filter, they are a good name and are easily accessible. Plus I dont have to give any more money to the dealership
