I'm curious to see what you guys that turn wrenches for a living have to say..
Ride safe, and often
30+ years as a professional wrench here and like the man said- I have never seen the slightest indication that a small amount of "skank" oil hurts anything.

But I also believe that it's your bike, and if it gives you peace of mind then do it.

Just my .02...
Would you take a shower and put your dirty skivies back on? Why?

I believe in the total oil change too. It makes sense to remove all the acids and contaminated oil, it's a no brainer.

Will the "skank" oil hurt anything....who knows. Fresh oil will not hurt anything for sure.

you'll probably will do more engine damage by leaving a hose clamp loose and having it blow off, then what a few onces of dirty oil would do. for some reason Harley owners are like fish, they'll bite on every new shiny do dad that some guy lookin to make a buck puts out.,,

seeing that i have been a mechanic for 150+ years, ive never ever heard of oil being "skank".. is that professional term. "skank" used to refer to less than desireable female, not oil. use a good quality oil, a good filter, change it between 2500 and 5000. and u should never have an oil related problem
Hey...I know skanks who put on dirty underwear after a shower and it's safe to say that they have never had an fish-related problem, so there. [:-]

fish, skank, smelly vag, its all good. if it smells like chicken, its a tasty dish. if it smells like cologne leave it alone. i really like skanky women. @ a party they are the ones that are good for a bj at the end of the night. lol

Well, from a mechanical perspective I can see no way that oil changes and underwear have anything in common, so I'd say your example is weak at best.

It's your rig & your money, but if you really want to know if the "X" dollars you spent on the total oil change equipment is doing anything for you, do a used oil analysis using the total change equipment. Then do another UOA without using the total change equipment. This will show differences in wear metals, contaminates, total base number remaining, etc. between the two oil changes.
Then you'd have factual evidence to prove your point, which is much better than an anecdotal comparison to dirty underwear...

I too pulled the return line off and pumped out 30 oz of old oil. It was a simple operation and nothing is pumped dry since you have already changed the oil in the tank. I have an 06 heritage and you don't need any special tools to pull the return line off.

I too am a wrench and would never change the oil in anything without removing all of it so why leave 25% of the oil unchanged in your bike when it's so easy to remove?
