What is the difference between Mobil 1 and Mobil 1 V-Twin??? (other than the price) Not interested in opinions. Would like to see info from indepenent testing. Also not interested in whatMobile claims.
Start reading through this section there's plenty of technical data on the subject. The differences between the Mobil-1 15w-50 and the V-twin oil are very minor, to the point of being insignificant. There are many, many migh mileage riders here that have used it for a long time. It's a great marketing scheme, make minor changes in the formulation of an already very good oil so that you can say it's different, change the label and charge twice the price. Mobil-1 15w-50 exceeds all of MoCo's specifications and is $22 from Walmart for a 5 quart jug.

The Vtwin is JASO rated for motorcycle wet clutch applications so there is no moly in it. If you use the 15w50 in the engine there is so little difference you won't detect it. But there are so many other oils out there for the primary it doesn't matter anyway. If you are worried about it then don't use it in the primary. I just won't use an oil with moly in it because it can cause clutch slippage over time.

WOW!!! Ask and you shall receive..........thanks! I was thinking I had read somewhere there was not enough difference to warrant the higher price, but I've read so much it is all starting to run together and I needed a little clarification! Thanks again for the quick and to the point answers!

I am going to change over to synthetic oil this spring, just wondering if anyone has had any experiance with Amsoil? or should i use the Harley synthetic?
Thanks in advance for your reply.
Amsoil, Royal Purple, Mobil 1, Redline...take your pick, as they're all fine products. HD Syn3? It's an average lubricant among the other synthetic choices out there, but is overpriced. Find that which is easiest to obtain and cheapest. In most cases that will be Mobil 1, which you can get almost anywhere. Don't overlook their 15w50, which is every bit as competent as their 20w50 VT at a much lower price.

I just changed my 99' RK to the Lucas 20w-50 syn. with the Lucas syn. stablizer in the tranny, primary, and engine. Ihave some friends that are using it and seem to like that way it performs. A local high end motorcycle shop who deals in Iron Horse, Titan, and so on, told me that they recommend the Lucas oil and stablizer for these bikes and the Harleys they beef up.

Hot 'biker chicks' prefer Mobil 1.

But in this case I'd use this non-Syn oil:

The reason I wonder is 'cause your sig still reads 88 inches. Surely you've riden it and have an idea of the performance, or has it been too nasty?
Anyway, be sure and give a report.
