Default doing some oil filter research

Hi,
No offense to the anyone who buy only Harley oil and filters... But I'm a firm believer that you can't beat a man at his own trade. Which is why I would not want to ride a motorcycle made my Mobile 1 or Amsoil.

My biggest concern is the filter quality since I'm running a relatively brand new high compression 96 CU IN stroker.

I just came across this info and thought I'd pass it along. What I found most interesting was the results of the Amsoil filter. And Lady's and Gentlemen... I have no plans to put a K&N filter on anyting I own. I run a GMC 6.5 TD and there have been a lot of tests done on air filters for diesels. I would suspect the quality of a company's air filter probably filters down to any other filters they make...

For a real eye opener on aftermarket air filters ( for diesels ) read this... http://www.duramax-diesel.com/spicer/index.htm

This guy spent a ton of "favors" have a testing lab review air filters for Filtration and Air FLow. results of that were / more air glow out of an AC DELCO and the most filtration... worst on the list was the K&N air filter with the washable media ( cliearn and filter oil).. Even my brother who runs a hopped up Cummins is a believer and trashe using any K&N sir filers ( poor air filter quality is the pre mature kiss of death to a deisel engine)..

So, that being said.. chrome, nut on the bottom or not.. I equate running to my nearest "Auto parts mall " and seeing the K&N display is like going to " GREAT BUY" and buying Moster Cables for yout stereo... total BS... Bend Over America!...

OK, that rant being over. here's the website address for an oil filter test so you can read the full data for yourself and make your own conclusions...

http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/Filters.html

and here's the basic results of a test on a honda engine. ( tell me something that redlines at what?? 8 - 10 grand does not need good oil protection)...

I received an email from Suzuki of Victoria, informing me that a Hayabusa they took in for service showed no oil pressure. They found the cause was an aged anti-drainback valve on a Hi-Flo filter that would not open, thus cutting off all oil pressure to the entire engine. K&N filters are made by Hi-Flo, so these filters are also suspect. Jon Satterfield purchased and dissected several filters for Honda Motorcycles. We all owe him a big debt of gratitude. These filters stand out from all the alternatives as having superior filtering, excellent construction, and they're widely available at a reasonable price. I use the Pure One - it's half the price, and somewhat better due to having almost double the filter surface area. The AMSOil has superior filtering, but I cannot rec

I don't believe these filters meet or exceed the HD spec of 10 micron/multi-pass filtration. I know the pure one doesn't for sure. As for the K&N air filters....HD SE air filters were K&N for years and my dealer openly recommends them as a "better" alternative to the HD SE air filter which has a bad rep for disintegrating. (mine did). I will only use HD oil filters and K&N air filters on my bike. The automotive grade oil filters do not meet the specs.
