Hi all is it best to run in a new bike with the factory HD oil up to 1000 miles then change to HD 3 in 3 Syn oil for it's running life ?

It's a safe idea that won't hurt anything. I changed to syn at 2k, changing engine oil at 500, 1k, 2k, and 5k--using 5k intervals thereafter. Some mfr's, like Royal Purple, recommend 3k for break-in--but I doubt if that distance is required to seat the rings, which is the main reason to hold off on using syn. Rings really should seat in 50 miles, and after that there would be no advantage to extending the use of fossil oil.

All the CVO bikes come with Syn3 as factory fill. I switched to syn at 100 miles. No problems.
