That works! I never could understand why my town frowns upon leaking oil tanks.

47 years industrial mechanic in the oil industry. what do you think we did with the used engine oil???
we put it in the stock tanks and shoved it to the refineries. of course some engines we never changed oil in unless there was an issue with it through oil analysis or major over-haul. we are talking 24/7 full bore on and some times over load, 6 banger put out nearly 2000 hp. shoot the 4 banger version was shoving out 1500 hp.
mostly oil gets dirty and if you clean it on the go, NO NOT FILTER, it will last thousands of hours.

Over here in US, most big part stores offer a service to take it for free. Never seen any recyclers offer to pay for it.

My understanding is it's passed on to businesses that have a oil burner heating system designed for used motor oil. They also get a business tax break on using it.

if amoco was still around, ask them idiots what the fed's did to them when the took in free oil and burned it in their northern plants. but then again amoco was sued more times than you can shake a stick at, look what they did with the propane market. once again big brother stomps on them but the consumer lost, gov gained.
BTW: that oil was not burned in its as dropped off conditions, so guess what, it got fracked again. burning as dropped off would damage the stack emission controls and EPA would once again burn them. we had to go through emissions test quite often by 3rd party and annual with the fed's.
install a centrifuge or a frantz system.

i can tell you amoco sucked, 15 years with them, president sold the workforce out for personal gain. the what was left got bought up by brittish petroleum and the idots, ex amoco, made the biggest gulf of mexico oil spill in history by cutting corners. they never repaid alaska for the valdez incident. sure, it was exxon who supplied the ship but it was amoco oil.
the idiots on the production platforms often dumped oil separators into the gulf when they had issues instead of following proper protocol of dumping to a gun barrel and reprocessing it after problem solved and most problems were operator induced.
so the comment dumping it on the ground was not so far fetched after all, fools do it every day. they never went through a DOT inspection going into cali, you leak, you do not come in!
