Default Engine Oil

I have recentley purchased a 2008 Road King and would like to run a good quality oil or perhaps a synthentic oil in it. Does anyone have advise on what oils are best to use. I have read several issues on the internet but would like an opinion from the ones who ride. Thanks

Sorry Guys, even the MoCo no longer recommends the "One Oil in All Holes" approach. If you wouldn't put Gear Oil in your engine, why would you put Engine Oil in the gear box? The oils are each formulated for a specifically diffenentenvironment.

Wizzard44, drag your computer over by the fireplace, it's to cold for you to ride anyway, and spend some time this weekend reading here. https://www.hdforums.com/forumid_222/tt.htm

That's the best way to figure out what's right for YOU.
And, don't buy into mfg. claims and "white paper" bs.

hint: any top rated synthetic, Mobil-1, Redline, Amzoilwill be just fine. (note HD oils are NOT included here)

I agree with the no one oil for all applications approach.

I'm pretty happy with Mobil 1 V-Twin in the crank, Mobil I or Redline Gear oil in teh tranny and HD Formula 1 in the primary. Amsoil and Royal Purple synthetic are also viable alternatives for the crank.
