20W50 In All (3) Holes

RE: 20W50 In All (3) Holes
I have done the same with no problems. I tried 75/90 wt gear oil in the trans and did not notice any difference in shifting. the only thing that was different was I had to pull my speedo sensor and clean some kind of skivotts off of it. never had that problem with syn3. my old bike shifted like butter at 79k miles. with my newer bike '03 ultra amsoil 20/50 all around. the container says it is shear stabil and has a gl1 rating and thats what Harley reccomends plus it does work.I feel most folks that have shifting issues probably need their clutch and or the cable adjusted. maybe the new 6 speeds do have a noice issue, I dont have experience with them, but the old 5 speeds are bulletproof.

have always gone to the discount store and put mobile 20-50 in motor of my shovelhead even in the day of being told to never do that and put the same in my 96 ultra and my 2007 electra glide w/96 motor. i suggest using TRANSMISSION LUBE IN THE TRANNY 70-90 wt preferably synthetic if you live in hot climate and ride long distances.. it is formulated for this use. darn near anything will work in the primary, 30w, ATF especially if you have a small leak (drip or two).

Thin hot oil in your tranny? what are you thinking? I live in Ft. Laud and I use straight 50Win motor, ATF 12oz in primary (Bandit clutch), & 75w-90 gear oil. Your bike do what you want.

"the last Harley magazine that came out, right from the horses mouth so to speak does say that you can run syn in all 3 holes with out any issues or voiding the warrante."
Can and SHOULD are two different things.
Good , full synthetic 20/50 , 15/50 OR 20/60 (hot climate) in the crankcase.
Gear oil in the transmission, Redline HD Shockproof, Amsoil gear oil, Mobile one, etc.
MTL or Type F ATF in the primarywith the ATF being the real buy OR Harley's secret sauce or motor oil (dino) without friction modifiers.
Jap bikes delive trans lube under pressure, Harleys don't. Primaries are least sensitive but UNFILTERED so, change often.
EZ
