Default Cold Check Scale Dipstick

Would someone please explain this to me. I have been using a Haynes Service Manual and this is not mentioned anywhere. I have a 2000 model Heritage Classic. The manual says to check the oil on the sidestand. Does any of your manuals say any different?

Thanks, Lynn

Default RE: Cold Check Scale Dipstick

Disregard this post. I finally did what I should have done before asking this question. I put the Haynes Manual down and picked up my Owners manual. On my 2000 Heritage, I check the oil while it is upright and level. It also says to avoid checking the oil cold or at least don't add oil until it warms up and re-check. I should have read first and then asked. Oh well, I'll learn.
