I buy my mobil 1 v-twin at walmart. 8.23 a quart plus tax.
When they can keep it in stock, sure would like to know
who keeps buying all of it, I am very lucky to get when I do.

Analysis runs about $20-25. I won't do it every oil change, but will do it the 2nd & 3rd changes to give me a baseline on what might be wearing in the engine, and how the oil choice might be affecting it. After the 3rd change it'll probably be another year before I get it done again.
As far as saving $10 on a $20k bike:I've never been foolish enough to pay $20k for a bike. And that $10 is 2 tanks of gas and 200 miles of riding.
Lastly, from the new oil analyses on the M1 15w- & 20w- oils, I am much better served by an oil with more calcium than an oil with more zinc and phosphorous. If one goes for extended drain intervals, an oil with more calcium is even a better deal. In that case spending $10 more is worse than just wasting money; it's spending $10 more on an inferior product.

Interesting stuff there. Since I miss calculated the number of miles I would ride on my last road trip, I'm now at 5,600 miles on this oil change. So I think I'll stick to the V-twin oil.
BillyJoeBob, in Nashville AutoZone carries the Mobile 1 V-twin. At least the store in Hermitage does. I'm about to go over there now and get some for my overdue change.

Well, I'm lost in all of this scientific stuff about oil. My eyes glaze over, and I dunno what to think. At this point, I've already changed the oil in the engine, but still haven't done the service on the tranny. When you guys start talking about chemicals, molecular structures etc....It's kinda like when I try to explain financial statements to sales people.
